摘要: Theeffectofhumanimmunodeficiencyvirus(HIV)infectiononsalivaryglandshasdiagnosticandprognosticsignificance.HIV-salivaryglanddisease(HIV-SGD)iscomprehensivelyascertainedamongstthemajorcriticalacquiredimmunodeficiencysyndrome(AIDS)-relatedoralmanifestationandcausessubstantialmorbidity.Parotidglandswellingduetosiccasyndrome,parotidlipomatosis,sialadenitis,diffuseinfiltrativelymphocytosissyndrome,benignlymphoepitheliallesions,neoplasms(benignormalignant)ofsalivarygland,parotidglandinflammation,diminishedflowratesofsalivaandxerostomiahavebeendocumentedthatalsoaffectsthehealth-associatedcharacteristicsoflifeinsubjectsinfectedwithHIV.Thereisanecessityforhealthcareresearcherstodiagnoseit,particularlyasitmightworsenifleftundiagnosed.Theprecisecharacteristicofalterationsindynamicsofsalivaryglandstructureandfunctionalitywithlong-standingusageofhighlyactiveanti-retroviraltherapystillremainsunknown.HIVpositivechildrenalsopresentwithbilateralparotidenlargementandthesyndromestatewithclassicalclinicalandcytologicalfeaturesofpredominatedlymphoidhyperplasia.ThoughvariouscasereportsandstudieshavebeenextensivelypublishedondifferentaspectsofHIV-SGD,ithasnotbeendescribedsolely,thusleadingtooccasionalconfusionofnomenclatureandclinicalpresentationofHIV-SGD.ThisarticlereviewsthepathogenesisofHIV-relatedSGDanditscomponentsandvariousothermiscellaneousdisordersaffectingthesalivaryglandsinHIV/AIDS.
